Vergine M. “Jean” Zion, 88 of Independence, MO passed away, Monday May 30, 2011 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m., until service time Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery. Jean was born June 11, 1922 in Logan, IA to Roy and Ella Melinda (Hight) Fahrenkrog. She moved to Independence at an early age and has been a longtime resident. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed cooking, sewing, craftwork, traveling, camping and skiing. She was a member of the Community of Christ church 39th Street congregation. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Raymond Zion of the home; a daughter, Delores Curtis and her husband Gerald of Kansas City, MO; a son, Larry Zion and his wife Marinell of Lee’s Summit, MO; 4 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren.
