Peggy Diane Nance

June 7, 1962 — February 1, 2024

Independence

Peggy Diane Nance, age 61, of Independence, Missouri, passed away February 1, 2024. Funeral services will be private with a Celebration of Life to follow.

Peggy was born on June 7, 1962, to her parents, Harold & Barbara Nance.  She grew up in Kansas City, MO with two younger sisters, Susan & Debbie.  She graduated from Raytown High School in 1980 where she enjoyed leadership roles in several student clubs and special events. She then attended the University of Central Missouri for one year, studying business and photography.

In 1982, Peggy began her career working for Payless Cashways in advertising, training and human resources. Following this, she spent five years working for Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity as a full-time executive assistant and then later as a part-time publications assistant. By 1999, and as a mother of four young children, Peggy chose to stay home with a childcare business as well as manage her own administrative service for local business clients. She then worked various full-time jobs as a marketing manager for CEAH Realtors, and administrative assistant for Children's Mercy Hospital, Todco Mechanical, Inc., Kansas City Internal Medicine, and Saint Luke's Health System.

In 2013, Peggy obtained her Missouri Real Estate License, which was a perfect part-time career since she always loved meeting new people. She enjoyed representing residential clients with the amazing sales team at Realty Professionals Heartland.

Peggy was a loving and dedicated mother who also found time in her busy schedule to volunteer at the Independence School District, raise money for local Down syndrome events, and always wanting to do for others by embracing her creative talents.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren whether it was hanging out in the playroom, or having picnics in the back yard, with family and friends, and her beloved dogs. She also had a passion for outdoor photography – especially sunsets, springtime flowers and autumn leaves –taking road trips with her girlfriends, crafting, cooking, grilling, baking, entertaining, fishing on local ponds and more.   She has attended Christ United Methodist Church throughout her lifetime.

Peggy will be sincerely missed by her family and her wonderful “circle of friends” – so many loving, talented, and compassionate women with whom she stayed connected with her entire life. These beautiful women were always there to offer their positive energy and support throughout the happy and memorable times as well as the challenging days.

Peggy is survived by her four loving children and their sweet significant others - Michelle Renee Martin (James), Adam Patrick Farrell (Callie), Tyler Jacob Farrell, Connor Marcus Farrell, her beautiful grandchildren, Jonnie, Laurel, and Lennon, as well as extended family members and many lifelong dear friends.

Peggy was a genuine Gemini… sociable, communicative and ready for fun, with a tendency to suddenly get serious, thoughtful and restless. She was extremely loving, passionate and dedicated – plus an obsessive planner, which drove people crazy at times. She had a heart of gold, always enjoying helping others, and realizing that there would never be enough time to experience everything she wanted to see and do.

In addition to flowers, donations to Developing Potential, Inc. (Independence, MO) and Down Syndrome Innovations (Mission, KS) are appreciated.
